Coyotes and Cowboys

The coyote's a lot like your cowboy
Misguided and damaged but free,
In a life out of order he'll be running the border
Of what he's allowed to be
Your everyday coyote moves like he's half dead
He's got to limp slantwise to run straight ahead
He looks like he's starving even after he's fed
If you think that he's laughing he's crying instead
Your everyday coyote ain't right in the brain
When his pals and him sing it sounds like they're in pain
Hell he-don't have the sense to come in from the rain
When there's trouble he's allways to blame
The coyote's a lot like your cowboy
Misguided and damaged but free,
In a life out of order he'll be running the border
Of what he's allowed to be
He's humble by day and he's cocky by night
Don't be fooled by that smile he's just fixin' to bite
He's not that concerned with what's wrong and what's right
If you think that he's jokin' he's ready to fight
When it comes to abuse he's seen more than his share
He just get along on a wing and a prayer
Look over your shoulder and nothing is there
Then he shows up from out of thin air
The coyote's a lot like your cowboy
Misguided and damaged but free,
In a life out of order he'll be running the border
Of what he's allowed to be
There's a wild one who runs where the wildest won't go
Way up in the mountains at thirty below
The hunters have tried but they're always too slow
They only find blood on the snow
The coyote's a lot like your cowboy
Misguided and damaged but free,
In a life out of order he'll be running the border
Of what he's allowed to be
