Faces In The Yard

I have seen the morning sun come rising over mountain ranges far, far away
I have seen the sidewalks and the streets of far too many towns to mention
here today
I have ridden on the desert wind and I've stood in places God has been
Seen your mountains and your valleys wide and I've crossed over to the
other side
Run along on foreign beaches, taken bites of Georgia peaches
Seen the sights of New York town, I can say I've been around
But if you ask me to recall, the sweetest sight of them all, it wouldn't be so hard
The sweetest thing I've ever seen is, smiling children in the yard
I've woke up in the afternoon in places that I'd just a soon, forget I've ever been
I have said I'll never, and I swear' I'll never ever use that word again
I've done some fishing in a mountain stream, and I've milked the cows and
drank the cream
Plowed the fields on the old John Deere, that was many years from here
Done some pickin' in a couple of bands, played a few too many one night stands
And even though I ain't sure why, I can say I'm a lucky guy
And if you asked me to recall, the sweetest sight of them all, it wouldn't be so hard
The sweetest thing I've ever seen is, smiling children in the yard
