This ain't no gatherin' of boy scouts, I'll tell you that right now
But there's something going on here that I think might help somehow
Some folks are willing to wait for action, other people want it now
So lean a little toward the middle if you gotta but keep a hand on the plow

Or there'll be nuclear waste all over the place in another two hundred years
The lights'll go out in Georgia with no one to shed a tear
The iceman comes from a northern direction and slips in New York town
He push it to the bottom of the ocean where the whole damn place belongs

Folks out in California are happy as they can be
Everybody living in the Sierra Mountains got beachfront property
        What is there to see
That there's a hole in the middle of Kansas the size of Tennessee
And it ain't no consolation no to a dead man if he's free

I ain't predicting the future, I'm only reading the signs
We've got to get the message in, and get it right this time
We can't be willing to wait for action, we've got to have it now
So lean a little toward the middle if you've gotta but keep a hand on the plow

Or there'll be nuclear waste all over the place in another two hundred years
The lights'll go out in Georgia with no one to shed a tear
The iceman comes from the northern direction and slips in New York town
And push it to the bottom of the ocean where the whole damn place belongs

The folks out in California are happy as they can be
Everybody living in the Sierra Mountains got beachfront property
        And nobody's there to see

And it ain't no consolation no to the dead man if he's free
