Flying Don’t Mean Nothing To A Snake
© Dakota Sid Clifford
Might'a been the ‘wind that caused some little thing to sway
Captured you're attention, turned you from the way that you were goin' on
Goin' on
Might'a been some ray of light reflecting in a glass
Caught your eye and turned your head and suddenly
you're past the way you should'a gone
Still goin' on
Might'a been some crazy inadvertent twist of fate
A tactical illusion guaranteed to make you wait just a second long
Before goin' on
Might'a been that moment when you missed a little beat
Altered your direction and caused our eyes to meet and it was feelin' strong
Still goin' on
Where would we have been if we had gone where we were goin' to
With another chance just to make that same mistake
Water runs downhill son, ice is cold and rocks are hard
And flyin' don't mean nothing to a snake
And water just flows easy to a lake
Instrumental
Everything is like it should be, though it's hard for me to say
If it weren't it would be different, but it's not,
and that's the way that things are goin' on
Still goin' on
We're both a little older, both a little wise
Wariness is lurking in the corner of our eye, but our love is strong
We're still goin' on
Where would we have been if we had gone where we were goin' to
With another chance just to make that same mistake
Water runs downhill son, ice is cold and rocks are hard
And flyin' don't mean nothing to a snake
And water just flows easy to the lake
