I'm a praying to you Jesus even though I don't believe
That I’m the truest of believers, it's just something that I need
And it really doesn't matter if you're hearing what I say
On these rare occasions Lord I just need to pray

Well there are a couple things now of which I would inquire
Little things that troubled me since I was just a child
And I've spent a lifetime searching, wasted all my youth
For that elusive little something called the truth

Well at first I thought it was just one thing but that was long ago
And then I found the living room and then I found the door
And the truth it seemed was everywhere and everything was true
Before somebody told me about you

Then I learned the truth was that the truth could be untrue
Lying wasn't good but it was something people do
And I've seen true believers on all sides of the fence
And I when found the truth it made no sense

Well I hope-your not offended, Jesus, I just had to ask
Trying to figure this stuff out is such a monumental task
And there seems to be no evidence uncovered to this day
To indicate that life is serious in any way

So I'm a praying to you Jesus even though I don't believe,
That I'm the truest of believers, it's just something that I need
And it really doesn't matter if you're hearing what I say
On these rare occasions Lord I just need to pray.
